    Even though most of us start the new year with the resolution to lose weight as a top resolution, according to research provided by NPD, "the peak dieting month is not January (when typically 23% of adults are on a diet). The top dieting month occurs in March (with typically 26% of adults on a diet)."

    According to NPD, of adults currently on a diet, the diet of choice is not Atkins, South Beach or Weight Watchers. The #1 diet is "My Own Diet"

    For those creating their own diet, portion control is a key strategy of choice. The Pocket Diet teaches smart portion control but understanding some of the underlining motivations can help you achieve success.
